If you’re a fan of Soulslikes or just fantasy-themed action RPGs in general, then you might want to keep an eye out for ‘The Weavers’ (as it’s currently known).
Based on numerous leaks up until this point — which have suddenly spiralled out of control — this is a gritty action RPG from HoYoverse, currently in development for consoles and PC.
Yes, that HoYoverse, of Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, and Honkai: Star Rail fame. The free-to-play juggernaut has ditched anime aesthetics entirely for this one, replacing its signature style with a much more grounded and realistic direction.
That is to say, the leaked screenshots — many of which have ended up on Reddit — are all very grey and brown. There’s some gameplay footage floating about as well, but it’s mostly just short clips that don’t give the full picture (yet).
Still, going by the snippets that are out there, it seems to be open world — or at least open zone –and the combat is reminiscent of… well, a lot of things. There’s a bit of Souls in there, with a dash of Monster Hunter, and definitely some Dragon’s Dogma.
Anyway, this one’s obviously got bags of potential given the company behind it. It’s unclear when we’ll get to see anything official, but the project does appear to be fairly far along.

Robert (or Rob if you’re lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he’s played ’em all. A little too much, some might say.
