A small business in Shotts has been recognised for its contribution to the local community after being selected as an MP HERo by Kenneth Stevenson MP.
Piuthar, a fantastic local business run by a group of local women, has been chosen for the 2026 MP HERoes award, which celebrates inspiring women entrepreneurs and the businesses they have built.
Kenneth Stevenson MP nominated Piuthar in recognition of the women behind the business and the positive contribution they make to the Shotts community.
The team behind Piuthar will now be invited to an MP HERoes event at the Houses of Parliament on, where they will receive a certificate recognising their achievement and have the opportunity to meet other women entrepreneurs from across the UK.

Mr Stevenson said: “I was delighted to nominate the brilliant women behind Piuthar for this year’s MP HERoes award. They are a fantastic example of the entrepreneurial spirit we have here in Airdrie and Shotts, and their hard work and dedication deserve to be recognised.
“It is always important to celebrate the brilliant small businesses we have locally, and I’m delighted that Piuthar will receive this national recognition. I hope the team can join us in Parliament in November to celebrate their achievement.”
The MP HERoes programme, run in partnership with Savvitas, celebrates women entrepreneurs and provides opportunities to connect, share experiences and raise the profile of women-led businesses across the UK.
The Piuthar team will also be featured on the MP HERoes website as part of the 2026 cohort.
