Two current Salford RLFC players landed a chance to play for a Super League club, due to the scheduling of the Championship season.
Charlie Glover and Finley Yates both lined up for Leeds Rhinos’ reserve side last night, as they took on Hull FC in a curtain-raiser before the Rhinos’ clash with Leigh Leopards.
Glover joined North Wales Crusaders after his Red Devils exit at the end of last season, but made no appearances, instead returning to the now phoenix side, where he has featured in their last three matches.
Yates stayed with the reformed club into the Championship, and has played 17 games for the Ryan Brierley-led club.
However, with Salford having a bye week this week, the pair were handed a chance to continue their game time, linking up with Leeds for the week.
As well as those two, it was an evening to remember for community player Josh Milnes, who was another called to action by Chev Walker.
Milnes plays for Halifax-based side Siddal, who are coached by Rhinos star Jake Connor. He was another inclusion on tonight’s bench, with Leeds needing bring players in to fill the numbers for this fixture.

It is uncertain whether the Salford two will stay for any longer than last night’s game – they will return to Championship action next weekend, whilst the Rhinos’ reserve side don’t have another confirmed game at present, with the play-offs looming.
In the game, the Rhinos took a dominant 66-4 victory over the Black and Whites. Leading 44-0 at half-time, the Rhinos scored eight first-half tries before another four in the second to book a spot in the reserves semi-finals.
Departing prop Jeremiah Mata’utia was one of four players to score braces, whilst exciting prospect Oscar Brown scored just minutes into his first game back since April.
The games for the last four will be confirmed in due course, with two more fixtures set to take place on Saturday to determine the top four.
