After an academy game between St Helens and Huddersfield Giants was abandoned after just 20 minutes, a Saints man has landed himself a monster ban.
Taking place on August 5, Huddersfield travelled to the Red Vee in the U18s format, but the game had to be stopped due to a serious injury for Thomas Burns, which left him in hospital for the night.
Thankfully, he was able to return home the following day, and now the RFL have hit St Helens man Callum Holmes with a Grade F Dangerous Throw/Lift, resulting in 37 penalty points and a six-match suspension.
The academy competition had a number of players from big clubs cop charges this week, with Wigan youngster Charlie Jeffrey Scott another to land a ban. He has been hit with a two-match suspension for head contact worthy of a Grade D in a game against Warrington Wolves.
Leeds Rhinos, in their comeback win over Castleford Tigers, saw two players sin-binned, and as a result, both have been charged, but not banned. Hooker Noah Lunn copped three penalty points for a trip, whilst back rower Alfie Steel was given the same penalty for dangerous contact.
In the reserves competition, promising Warrington forward Charlie McKler copped a Grade B charge, whilst Featherstone Rovers Women’s player and top tackler in the Women’s Super League, Charley Blackburn, was also charged.
