The round 25 Super League game between Wakefield Trinity and York Knights has been confirmed to be the next game aired live on the BBC, with the fixture’s kick-off time amended as a result of that.
Wakefield host York in that clash on August 29th and Trinity confirmed recently that the kick-off time for the game has been amended, shifted from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
Trinity confirmed that in a club statement that also saw them reveal the reason why, the fact that the game had been picked up by free-to-air broadcasters BBC.
A brief statement confirmed: “Our Round 25 game against York Knights at the DIY Kitchens Stadium has had an alteration to the kick off time due to the BBC.
“The game due to take place on Saturday 29th August will now kick off at 5:30pm instead of 3pm.
“The change is due to the game now being selected to be broadcast by BBC on BBC 2.”
That game will be the latest installment of Super League on the BBC with the national broadcaster picking a selection of games throughout the season, whilst Sky Sports showcase every game.

Whilst Sky Sports showcase all seven games per round, just two those are ‘exclusive’, with Sky then putting their full production weight behind those games, namely both pre-match build-up and post-match analysis, typically hosted by Brian Carney and a selection of pundits.
As for the BBC, some of their games have gone onto either iPlayer or BBC Three, but their BBC Two coverage has typically been presented and produced in a similar manner to Sky i.e. pre and post-match coverage.
Fans can expected that in a fortnight’s time when Wakefield host York but the BBC coverage will continue in 2026, with the broadcaster having the rights to two play-off matches.
