The Pokémon World Championships is taking place later this month, and as usual, there’ll be some game-related announcements.
According to an official post about the World Championships “Preview Show”, trainers can look forward to a “special” announcement for the Switch 2 exclusive, Pokémon Pokopia.
“Don’t forget to tune in for a special Pokémon Pokopia announcement taking place for PokémonXP and 2026 Worlds!”
The Preview Show for the 2026 World Championships will take place on 21st August 2026, and can be viewed on the official Pokémon Twitch channel and Play! Pokémon YouTube channel.
This year’s Pokémon World Championships event is scheduled to take place in San Francisco, California between 28th – 30th August 2026.
Nintendo and The Pokémon Company most recently revealed Pokémon Pokopia sales had surpassed five million units in “just over four months”. The game also recently received a new update, bumping the title up to Version 2.0.0. It was released alongside the Expansion Pass content Bubbly Basin, which will be followed by Part 2 in late 2026, and Part 3 in 2027.
