The memoir of the late L7 bassist Jennifer Finch is set to be posthumously released next year.
The punk icon tragically died aged 59 on July 18th, following a battle with brain cancer, which Finch only announced in a social media post just days before her passing.
Following her death, L7 shared, “She had a long courageous fight with brain cancer and was loved by many wonderful friends, musical peers and fans worldwide. We love you Jennifer.”
However, now it has been revealed that Finch’s legacy will live on through her autobiography, Shooting Up and Making Out: A Memoir of My Life in LA and L7, which she completed prior to her passing.
The book, written alongside Jeff Alulis, is set to chart Finch’s rise through the music scene from when she first entered it at the tender age of 12.
It is also set to discuss her journey with heroin, which she started using at just 14 years old, alongside the bands and friendships she formed with future superstars such as Courtney Love and Dave Grohl, and her eventual illness struggles.
Speaking of Finch’s impact on the book, Alulis said in a statement, “Jennifer’s memoir was the last major project she completed before she passed away.”
Explaining that the writing process took two years and that she was involved in every aspect of the storytelling, he added, “I’m heartbroken that she won’t get to see it published, but I’m thrilled to share her life and legacy with the world.”
Finch’s autobiography, Shooting Up and Making Out: A Memoir of My Life in LA and L7, is set to be released on January 19th, 2027.
