A bat which stranded itself in a toilet in Sussex has been safely rehabilitated.
Nicknamed ‘Louis’ by his rescuers, the Serotine bat was found floating in a loo earlier this month.
The bat was swiftly fished out of the toilet with a trowel, and popped someone safe to dry out.
However his rescuers say he looked ‘very sorry for himself’, so they drafted in expert advice from Sussex Wildlife Trust, who referred them to Sussex Bat Group.

They were advised to take him to ‘bat hospital’, which they promptly did, and his recovery began.
After a week of good food, water and space to fly, Louis was deemed fit to return home by the charity.
He was driven back by a volunteer ambulance driver, and released back into the garden of the house he was found in.
Louis was said to ‘pose’ for a picture, before flying off into the night, this time away from the toilet he had become trapped in.
