Simon Grosset has more than 40 years of experience in the photography industry, covering everything from newspaper assignments to weddings.
Now, ‘A Life in Pictures: Photography by Simon Grosset’ has opened its doors at Gallery27, off Dunbar’s Spott Road.
Mr Grosset, who lives in the town, said: “I have been a photographer all my life.
“I started by watching my father make black and white prints in a makeshift darkroom in the spare bedroom, progressing to working for the school magazine, the university newspaper, and then to national newspapers and the old Fleet Street.
“The life of an editorial photographer is a fantastic one.
“I have travelled all over the world to cover stories, met amazing people, and often watched and photographed as history unfurled itself in front of my lens.
“I worked as a freelance photographer for The Daily Telegraph, The Independent, The Guardian, The Mail on Sunday and other international publications.
“I don’t miss it, and my 40 years of experience prepared me for anything and everything that can happen as a photographer!
“As digital photography emerged fully in 2001, I worked as a wedding photographer, which I saw as editorial photography on my terms.
“But 25 years later, I semi-retired as I realised I was older than the bride and groom’s parents!”
The exhibition, which is open until August 29, illustrates the progression from black and white photographs through to colour photographs for international agency Gamma.
