Has the truth surrounding Rachel Parkinson’s death been revealed in Coronation Street?
Earlier this month, Rachel, the wife of Tim Metcalfe’s (Joe Duttine) cousin Richie (Nathan Sussex) was murdered.
The men had a chance encounter at the precinct after years of estrangement, and ultimately spent the night drinking together. Tim’s best pal Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) wasn’t sure what to make of the newcomer, believing him to be far too brash in a friendship group that he’d only just been introduced to.
However, perhaps Steve should’ve been right to be wary.
Richie spent a few nights kipping on the sofa at No. 4 due to issues in his marriage, and Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) told her husband that it was time for him to leave. When Tim helped his cousin into a cab, he urged him not to give up on his relationship with wife Rachel and to make amends.

That night, when Tim realised that Richie had left his wallet in Weatherfield and drove to the other side of Manchester to return it, he saw blood on his relative’s shirt and found Rachel dead in the kitchen.
The Metcalfes have since taken the Parkinsons’ daughter Lucy (Anya Dewin) in, which hasn’t been an easy ride.
In today’s episode, Tim received a visiting order from Richie in prison, and when he went to visit him, was stunned by his request. He said that he must back up his story that Rachel was a violent woman and that he acted in self-defence, to avoid a prison sentence.
Tim was uncomfortable painting a woman he’d never met as abusive, and said it wouldn’t take long for the police to discover the truth.
With his refusal in mind, Richie became enraged and said that the only reason he returned home in the first place was because of his cousin’s instructions. Prison guard Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield) ordered the prisoner to calm down, and later passed on some food for thought to Tim and Sally.

He explained that Richie is renowned for having a short fuse, and has already been caught up in some drama with his cell mates.
Tim then began to wonder whether his cousin had deliberately killed Rachel.
