As Bishop’s Stortford Camera Club’s 2026 summer programme draws to a close, members are looking back on another enjoyable and successful season of photography, writes Matthew Bickham.

The series of informal events brought together existing members and welcomed several prospective new members, all sharing a passion for photography while exploring a variety of interesting locations.

From local nature walks at Rushy Mead and Therfield Heath to architectural photography in London, radio telescopes at sunset in Cambridge and even the colourful world of steampunk, the programme offered something for photographers of every ability. Experienced club members were on hand throughout to offer advice and encouragement, making each event relaxed, friendly and accessible.

The programme also produced some outstanding photographs, many of which have been shared on the Bishop’s Stortford Camera Club Facebook page. The variety and quality of the images perfectly reflect the creativity and enthusiasm of those who took part, with members enjoying the opportunity to learn new techniques while developing their own photographic style.

Perhaps the greatest success of the programme has been the friendships it has helped to build. Meeting outdoors in a relaxed setting provided a fantastic opportunity for members to get to know one another, while prospective members were able to experience first-hand the welcoming atmosphere that the club is known for.

With another successful summer behind it, the club now looks forward to its new season of meetings and welcomes anyone with an interest in photography – whether complete beginners or experienced photographers – to come along to see what Bishop’s Stortford Camera Club has to offer.
