On Wednesday, July 29, footfall at GRID jumped by 73.5% compared to the same day last year, coming close to the numbers GRID would typically expect to welcome on a Saturday.

The Spider-Man effect continued well past opening day, with GRID recording a 28% year-on-year increase in daily visitors through to Monday, August 10.

Bruce Harley, manager at GRID Braehead, said: “Glasgow really got behind Spider-Man, so it’s fantastic to see that excitement reflected here at GRID.

“To have our usual Wednesday footfall and numbers approaching what we would normally see on a Saturday shows just how much of a buzz there was around the film.

“With part of the movie filmed right here in Glasgow, there was extra excitement around this release.

“Big films like Spider-Man are about more than a trip to the cinema, they give friends and families an excuse to get together, grab something to eat and enjoy everything else that’s on offer.

“We love seeing GRID at its busiest and the atmosphere that comes with it, and we’re looking forward to welcoming plenty more visitors throughout the rest of the summer.”
