A bank holiday change will affect every recycling and rubbish collection round in Somerset next week — including a Saturday service for some households.
There will be no collections on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31.
All rounds will instead take place one day later than usual during the following week.
This means residents whose usual collection day is Friday will have their rubbish and recycling collected on Saturday, September 5.
Households are being asked to put bins, recycling boxes and bags out on their revised collection day, or the night before.
Somerset Council is also encouraging people to make extra room in their recycling containers by crushing and flattening recyclable materials, helping crews manage the increased volume of recycling and reduce the number of times vehicles need to be emptied.
Recycling sites which are normally open on a Monday will remain open as usual from 9am to 6pm on Bank Holiday Monday.
Residents can check their collection day, find information about what can be recycled and locate a recycling site through the council’s waste and recycling webpage.
