Trigger Point is finally back on the small screen this weekend as the fourth season gets under way on Sunday (30 August), with Lana Washington and her bomb disposal unit aiming to keep London safe from the biggest threat yet.
While Vicky McClure reprises her role as the lead character, there are several new faces in the latest chapter of ITV’s procedural thriller, with Shetland and This City Is Ours star Julie Graham joining the cast.
Speaking about Graham’s role in the series, McClure teased: “Julie walks in, and she commands the room. You instantly go: ‘Okay, this is someone who knows her own mind and has confidence in her decisions.’

“Lana quickly identifies that, and feels that she’s possibly in the safest hands she’s been in, because the red tape that falls down in front of her just crushes any sort of decision that she wants to make,” noted the actor.
“Sometimes she goes: ‘I’m just gonna ignore that because people could die.’ Whereas there is a very quick belief that Julie’s character has faith in Lana. If you have faith in her, then she will react accordingly and that’s what we pick up on quite quickly.”
Of course, Lana isn’t the only figure who will interact with Graham’s character, with Eric Shango’s Danny Markham also coming across her. And like his colleague Lana, he is impressed with her style and demeanour.
“With Julie being the powerhouse that she is, it’s not surprising that it’s reflected in her choices as an actor, and then her depiction of what her character is in Trigger Point,” said Shango.
“There’s a thing where two alphas, for the lack of a better word, normally either clash or one has to yield. I think that the wiser of the two usually yields, because Lana commands her territory and doesn’t like it being impeded upon.”

Shango explained further that Lana and Graham’s character would recognise each other’s place via an “unspoken language”, and that their healthy relationship comes from a mutual sense of respect for the other party.
“It’s nice and it’s different to what probably would have been expected. It would have been expected and on the nose to go ‘ok, here’s another contentious character of authority for you to deal with,'” he added.
Trigger Point season 4 premieres on Sunday at 9pm on ITV1.
