A commanding second-round performance has put the Ukrainian contender within reach of another major breakthrough on the international tennis stage.

Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva has reached the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 Abierto GNP Seguros tournament, which is taking place in Monterrey, Mexico. The tournament’s prize fund is $1,206,446.

In the second-round match, Yulia Starodubtseva, ranked 74th in the WTA world rankings, defeated Indonesia’s Janice Tjen, the world No. 35.
