Dunfermline Tennis Club, located on Bothwell Street, recently welcomed a huge number of rising stars to step onto the court for their Junior Open competition.
Whilst the focus of the sport’s global audience may have been on preparations for the US Open, the eyes of families, friends, and volunteers, were on some talents closer to home.
An incredible 138 players, ranging in age from 6-18, from all over Scotland, participated, playing a combined 265 matches across 17 events.

Held on August 9 and 15, the junior open produced high quality tennis that was supervised by tournament referee, and two-time Tennis Scotland Coach of the Year, Alan Russell, who scooped the organisation’s Official of the Year accolade for 2026.
He was assisted by court supervisors from the club, trained to LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) standards, across boys and singles events.
Singles events were held in age groups from under-eights to under-18s, whilst there were also doubles competitions in the under-14 and under-18 age groups, as the players competed for trophies, medals and gift vouchers.
The club, which has five high-quality, floodlit, Tiger Turf Advantage Pro artificial grass courts on offer, will host its club championship finals day on Sunday September 20.
