Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it’s investigating the financials of Elon Musk’s pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, ‘The A Word’, which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ibrahim Gusau resigned as president of the Nigeria Football Federation on Thursday after mounting pressure that followed the country’s failure to qualify for major tournaments.
The federation said its general secretary Mohammed Sanusi has also resigned. Gusau, in the post since 2022, said he made the decision after consulting with stakeholders and family.
The federation had launched a fact-finding committee to investigate the country’s recent poor performances in international competitions.
The Super Eagles, the men’s team, failed to qualify for the World Cup, losing 4-3 on penalties to Democratic Republic of Congo.
The women’s team, known as the Super Falcons, didn’t qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup after losing earlier this month 2-1 to South Africa in an intercontinental playoff. The team had always qualified for the tournament since it began in 1991.
