Musicians who played at an iconic gig will be reuniting for its 60th anniversary.
Sounds Force 5 played at BBQ67 in between major acts such as Jimi Hendrix, Cream and Pink Floyd at the Tulip Bulb Auction Hall in Spalding in May 1967 and the one-off gig has become a cultural phenomenon.
Colin Ward, who runs Live Promotions in Spalding, chatted to legends backstage and is thrilled to be performing next year at the diamond anniversary event organised by Spalding BID and PastPresentPossible CIC.

Mr Ward, who has since had a career organising live music events featuring the likes of Jools Holland, said: “We are the only band that was on the event that can genuinely say they were there and recreate the numbers they played on the night.
“It is going to be a magical moment for the band and our followers.”
Three of the five original line-up will be performing – Mike Peacey, singer, Len Doughty, keys and Mr Ward on drums.

Since the legendary concert – a precursor to Woodstock and festivals today – the line-up of Sounds Force 5 went onto feature Bob Pate, bass and Jason Lunn on guitar.
Plans for a month-long celebration next year are underway – a bikers and bands event has paved the way to stage next year’s event- with input from Nettie Baker, who is the daughter of Cream’s drummer Ginger Baker.
She said: “It is great Sounds Force 5 they are reforming.

“It which gives more scope to have music directly related to 1967 appearing at the commemoration events.”
Residents have been invited along to meetings to discuss ideas for the celebration and have suggestions have included live music and a fashion show.
Rachel Morgan, from Spalding BID, said: “It is fantastic to hear that Sound Force Five are reuniting as part of the programme.

“The band has such a great history with BBQ67 having played alongside legendary names so their return is a brilliant way to celebrate that heritage while bringing more live music to the town.
“We are really looking forward to seeing what promises to be a fantastic month of events.”
The next BBQ67 meeting will take place at St Norbert’s Church Hall in Spalding on Wednesday, September 9.
