It is surely not a debate that the two Americans have been the best players this year.
Cam Young and Matt Fitzpatrick both enjoyed hot spells, but they’ve been a tier just below Wyndham Clark and Scottie Scheffler.

Many players have already given their take on the Player of the Year race between Clark and Scheffler.
And now Viktor Hovland has weighed in with his opinion.

Hovland has been speaking on the PGA Tour’s Instagram account about the 2026 Player of the Year race.
And the 28-year-old Norwegian responded when asked who he believes should be handed the award this year.
“Do you give the award to who has had the most career defining moments throughout the year?,“ Hovland said.

“And I would definitely say Wyndham has probably done that this year.
“But Scottie has been the most consistent and played the best golf throughout the year.“
Much will depend on whether Scheffler is able to win the Tour Championship this week at East Lake.
Still all to play for at the Tour Championship
If Scheffler does manage to secure victory in Atlanta, he may well be the undisputed best player on the PGA Tour in 2026.
However, if anyone but the world number one wins the Tour Championship, the Player of the Year award will surely be Clark’s.
Wyndham Clark has won more tournaments than Scottie Scheffler this season, including a major championship.
However, the 20-year-old from Dallas, Texas, has undoubtedly been the most consistent player on the PGA Tour, with 12 top-5 finishes to his name in 19 starts.
It really is all to play for at East Lake this week.
