A tennis club is planning to go grass-free with new all-weather courts.
Newark Tennis Club has submitted an application for new courts on London Road to Newark and Sherwood District Council.
The club seeks to replace two existing grass tennis courts with two new hard surface all-weather courts.

The site, to the rear of the former Lilley and Stone School, already features four existing hard courts.
It is proposed that porous asphalt is used to avoid standing water and assist with drainage.
Concrete edging in is also intended to be light green and brick red in colour to match adjacent existing hard courts

An existing fence between the courts would be relocated.
The provision of two additional all-weather courts would expand the tennis club’s capacity regardless of weather and time of year.
No heritage or conservation comments have been issued.

The application will be determined by Newark and Sherwood District Council’s planning department.
