The chair of a group that gave advice related to surveillance of pesticides in food in the United Kingdom has hailed the “positive contribution” it made following its final meeting.
The Expert Committee on Pesticide Residues in Food (PRiF) was a Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) scientific advisory committee. The government decided to close the group in 2025. The last meeting in May 2026 considered findings from the final quarter of the 2025 monitoring program.
The main role of PRiF was to advise on the UK national surveillance program for pesticide residues in food, which is managed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
