The woman aged in her 40s died at an address in Waytown Close, Canford Heath.
The incident was reported to police shortly before 9am on Sunday, August 30.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Dorset Police received a report at 8.55am on Sunday 30 August 2026 of the sudden death of a woman in her 40s at an address in Waytown Close, Poole.
“Detectives are carrying out an investigation into the death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.
“The deceased woman’s next of kin has been kept fully updated and our thoughts remain with her loved ones at this difficult time.”
Residents in the area reported seeing multiple emergency services from Sunday morning.
A witness said they saw five police cars and an ambulance.
Forensic officers were also reportedly in attendance.
A single police car remained on the scene into Sunday evening.
