US praises India’s strong growth and resilience as Washington signals confidence in the country’s economic trajectory
The White House has praised India’s economic performance, describing the country as a “dynamic”, “strong” and “resilient” economy and saying its latest GDP numbers reinforce its emergence as a fast-growing global power.
White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai said the latest economic data supported the Trump administration’s long-standing assessment of India’s economic strength.
“India is a very dynamic and very strong and resilient economy,” Desai said, adding that the latest GDP report and numbers “reinforce how India is a fast-growing power here.”
The comments come as India’s economic trajectory assumes greater significance for the global economy, with policymakers and investors closely watching whether the country can maintain its strong growth momentum amid a challenging external environment.
India has increasingly positioned itself as a key driver of global growth, supported by domestic demand, rising investment and an expanding role in global supply chains. At the same time, the economy remains exposed to external risks, including geopolitical tensions, energy-price volatility and shifts in global interest rates.
Desai’s remarks also underscore the importance Washington places on India’s economic potential at a time when the US and India are seeking to deepen their economic and strategic relationship.

The latest GDP data have provided fresh evidence of the resilience of the Indian economy, reinforcing its position as one of the most closely watched emerging markets.
For the US, stronger Indian growth could also create opportunities for greater trade, investment and supply-chain cooperation between the two countries. India’s expanding manufacturing capabilities and growing importance in technology and global production networks have made it an increasingly significant economic partner for Washington.
The White House’s positive assessment comes against a backdrop of wider debate over India’s ability to sustain high growth while navigating global economic uncertainty.
Desai’s comments therefore offer a notable endorsement from Washington of India’s economic strength, even as policymakers in New Delhi continue to balance domestic growth priorities with a rapidly changing global environment.
