St George Illawarra Dragons have confirmed that prop forward Blake Lawrie will leave the club at the end of the season with the NRL forward sure to attract Super League attention.

Lawrie is a player who was previously ‘made available’ for Super League clubs to sign, per a report from Love Rugby League, and it’s now been confirmed by the Dragons that they will not re-sign the forward.

ESPN have reported that Lawrie has signed a three-year deal with York Knights, meaning he could become yet another St George player to make a Super League switch for 2027, with several already confirmed.

One of those confirmed signings has even moved earlier with Lawrie’s prop forward teammate Emre Guler granted an early release to sign with Wakefield Trinity for the back end of the 2026 season.

Lawrie, 29, has made a total of 170 NRL appearances for the Dragons but just ten of those have come in 2026 and that has likely played into the club not offering him a new deal.

A statement from the club confirmed: “The St George Illawarra Dragons can confirm that Blake Lawrie will be departing the club come season’s end.

“A Dapto Canaries junior, Lawrie came through the Dragons Academy & debuted for the club in 2017, going on to make 170 appearances across 10 seasons.

As referenced above, Lawrie becomes the latest in a string of St George players to leave the club, many of whom have signed Super League deals.

Damien Cook, Mat Feagai and Tyrell Sloan have all signed for Castleford Tigers, though whether Sloan signs is still a topic of interest given his very public comments about the fact he wanted to stay down under and the fact he has hit such strong form.

Elsewhere, Guler has already signed with Wakefield and fellow forward Luciano Leilua has signed a deal with Catalans Dragons for 2027, whilst Hame Sele has also been linked with a move to Catalans.
