It’s been rumoured for quite some time, but here’s your first look at the official LEGO PS1 set, as spotted in-store by a Brick Tap News member. It’s due out on 1st October.
The build consists of 1,911 pieces and will retail for a reasonable $160, which is pretty affordable for LEGO sets these days as far as I can see.
As previously rumoured, the set will also come with a free Astro Bot while stocks last.

In addition to the console and controller, you’ll find a diorama beneath the lid-flap which pays homage to Ape Escape and Gran Turismo – two of the device’s defining games.
That means no physical discs in this set, folks – hurrhurr.
It’s hard to tell from the photograph, but it looks like the packaging references the PS1’s original US box art, which is pretty cool.
I’ve resisted the temptation to buy various LEGO sets of late, including that awesome Donkey Kong arcade cabinet – but I fear I’m going to cave here.
