Goole Vikings confirmed that three of their departing players had signed Super League deals for 2027 and Serious About Rugby League understands that one of those players will be moving to Hull FC, where he will link up with his head coach.

Scott Taylor will join the Black and Whites for 2027 after earning his stripes coaching the Vikings for the past two years, with ex-Leeds Rhinos man Brett Ferres replacing him at the Championship club.

Goole confirmed that as well as a number of departures, three of whom they stated had Super League deals. Among those was ex-Hull FC man Jeylan Hodgson, who Serious About Rugby League previously reported would join Huddersfield Giants, as well as Connor Barley and Cooper Howlett.

It’s thought that Howlett will join York Knights but Barley will trade Hull KR for Hull FC, just like his former head coach and new assistant coach Scott Taylor did – with both men doing so after spells at other clubs.

As first reported by Hull Live, Barley will join Hull FC to add depth in the outside backs and bring yet another young face into the squad with the 21-year-old set to challenge Lewis Martin and Harvey Barron for minutes.

Connor Barley to land Hull FC opportunity

Barley found minutes hard to come by at Hull KR, making just four appearances for the Robins and three of those came before Willie Peters’ arrival as Barley played in late 2022 as a fresh-faced 17-year-old.

The winger did earn one appearance under Willie Peters but he spent 2024 and 2025 out on loan before joining Goole for 2026, a move that has seen him flourish. The winger has registered 20 tries across 23 games and has deservedly earned his Super League deal with the Black and Whites.

Also capable of playing centre, Barley will offer depth across a back line that had already recruited two overseas players in Junior Pauga and Jordan Swann – both of whom are most comfortable at centre.

Hull FC have also signed Bailey Hodgson to play full-back as well as Daly Cherry-Evans, Alrix Da Costa, Isaac Liu and Joshua Coric.
