Chad Powers, the popular sports comedy series starring Glen Powell, is now back on our screens with its second season. And if the reviews are anything to go by, it looks to be better than ever!
The series sees the Top Gun: Maverick star portray Russ Holliday, a former quarterback whose American football career was left in tatters following an incident. In an audacious bid to revive his fortunes, he dons the identity of Chad Powers, whom nobody recognises.
As per the logline, the second season sees Russ continue his “unlikely comeback”, though it won’t be easy. As Chad faces increased exposure and attention, the line between Russ’s identities “begins to blur”.

After premiering in September 2025, the comedy series co-created by Powell is now back on Disney+, with the second season being released on Thursday (3 September). And in even better news, all six instalments have dropped at once, making it a perfect weekend binge-watch.
Though the first season, which was dubbed “touching” by The Guardian, was generally well-received by critics, the follow-up looks to be even better. At the time of writing, it holds a perfect 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes from seven reviews.
“Freed from the burden of having to introduce its preposterous setup, the show can indulge its freakier impulses, finally arriving at the place it always seemed to want to be,” opined Vulture, who called it “interesting and stimulating”.
“There are stretches of the season, especially in Episode 5, that lean fully into the horror and thriller genres. The switch-up doesn’t undermine the comedy of the show though, it just adds a new flavour,” noted Tell-Tale TV.
ScreenRant was also full of praise, writing: “Chad Powers season 2 picks back up on those plot threads, crafting an easy-to-follow ride filled with hilarious moments, emotional conversations, intriguing arcs, and a shocking final stretch.”

FandomWire echoed this, remarking: “Chad Powers remains ridiculous, but Glen Powell’s committed performance, genuine character growth, and surprising comic chops turn a disposable gimmick into an increasingly engaging redemption story.”
In addition to Powell, who also executive produces the series, the cast for the comedy includes Perry Mattfeld, Quentin Plair, Wynn Everett, Frankie Rodriguez and Steve Zahn. Colin Woodell, meanwhile, is a newcomer to the second season.
