The eye-catching animal is actually a life-sized model carried on the back of wildlife guide and photographer Paul Goldstein, who is taking on the final leg of a 1,000-mile charity walk across Britain to raise funds for tiger conservation.

Mr Goldstein, who is now almost 850 miles into the trek, is carrying a 9ft, 13kg tiger model on his back for the entire distance.

The challenge aims to raise £50,000 for frontline tiger conservation projects in India and Bhutan, supported by UK charity Explorers Against Extinction.

Mr Goldstein is due to cross into Cornwall today (Sunday, September 6), with just six days remaining before the finish at Land’s End, scheduled for next Saturday.

He has faced demanding coastal terrain, heavy rain, and strong headwinds since reaching the south coast over the bank holiday weekend.

Despite having completed more than 50 marathons with the tiger model, including the Everest Marathon in 2022, he describes this journey as his toughest challenge yet.

Supporters are encouraged to join Mr Goldstein for part of the route as he completes his journey through Cornwall.
