Olympic champion Alex Yee vowed to focus on the World Triathlon Championships after a broken bike chain cost him the chance of victory in the Supertri Pro Series Final in Jersey.
Yee was up against New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde for the first time since storming to victory in Paris two years ago.
But, as the two raced as part of the leading pack, Yee’s chain snapped on the second bike leg of the race around St Helier’s Waterfront, costing him the chance to win and meaning he was unable to finish.
“These things happen sometimes,” said Yee, who will race in Spain for the world title later this month.
“Some things are out of your control – you can decide to get upset about things you can’t control or you can move forward and do what you can control,” he added to BBC Radio Jersey.
“We’ve got another opportunity to be on the line with these guys and I’ll do my best to be competitive again.”
