Neil Dalgleish of Tour O The Borders organisers Hillside Outside said it had been a “great weekend despite some challenging weather on the high roads on Sunday”.
“The Touro riders are a positive and hardy bunch – we had 2,000 of them out there facing the elements in distinctly un-summer like conditions at times – but they battled through it and returned to Peebles in sunshine and full of smiles,” he said.
He said it had also been great to see nearly 300 riders take part in the Wee Touro on Saturday.
“Peebles was buzzing all weekend – the area was packed with visitors and cyclists,” he said.
“We know the road closures cause some inconvenience but we absolutely believe it’s worth it for local businesses and the long-term reputation of the area.
“Next year it’s the Tour de France – roll on next summer!”.
