The final stage of the men’s event concluded in Earlston on Sunday, September 6.
Tim Wellens of UAE Team Emirates – XRG secured the overall title, while teammate Nils Politt claimed the stage victory after attacking from a breakaway on the final lap.
Scott Hamilton, executive member for economic growth and developing the Borders at Scottish Borders Council, said: “We were delighted to welcome the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men back to the Scottish Borders and see so many people in Earlston from start to finish, as well as spectators across the 156km route.
“To host the prestigious final stage of the race for the first time is a great honour for the area and is built upon our longstanding relationship with the race organisers and our partners, which has now seen us host a dozen Tour of Britain stages in the past 17 years, including the women’s race for the first time last year.
“Finally, I must thank the community of Earlston for their incredible support and cooperation in welcoming the race and so many visitors to the area.”
The 156km stage took riders from Earlston through Smailholm, Hume, Greenlaw, Charterhall, and Duns before tackling the Lammermuir Hills.
The route included a climb past Whiteadder Reservoir and up to Redstone Rig and Duddy Bank before looping back towards Earlston for two laps of a 19km circuit.
The Borders will play host to the Tour de France next year – with the opening stage set to take riders from Edinburgh to Carlisle via the region.
The south of Scotland was awarded UCI Bike Region status from cycling’s governing body.
