The unfortunate animal had been spotted at the back of a Rickmansworth home after the noise woke residents early in the morning of August 6.
After the couple called the Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital, experienced volunteer wildlife rescuers were dispatched and transported it back to the Haddenham, Buckinghamshire, site.
Vets gave the fox pain relief and antibiotics before carefully cutting it free, then kept it comfortable with food and water in the large mammals ward.
An X-ray and full health check under anaesthetic the next day found only minor sores, which were treated.

After a few weeks at the hospital, the fox fully recovered and has been released at the same location because foxes need familiar territory for food and shelter.
Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital highlighted that its rescuers are trained in handling wild animals and warns against members of the public handling any large wild animals, especially when they are stressed.
