A new Avengers: Doomsday rumor gives a new update for the status of Taskmaster is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What is the latest Taskmaster MCU update for Avengers: Doomsday?
In a recent Q&A session on The Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez was asked about the potential for Taskmaster to return. Perez put some cold water on the rumor, saying that Taskmaster was likely originally set to appear in the movie, but due to rewrites on Thunderbolts* that saw Taskmaster’s character killed in the beginning of the movie, that likely isn’t happening anymore.
“Yeahhhhhhhhh…no. That was probably before the rewrites with Taskmaster,” said Perez. When asked if they have plans for the character after 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, Perez replied with a simple “nope.”
Olga Kurylenko, who played Taskmaster in Thunderbolts*, opened up about her role in the movie last month, saying it was a “pity” that script changes made it so that her character didn’t stay longer in the movie.
Avengers: Doomsday, meanwhile, arrives in United States theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. Avengers: Secret Wars then follows on December 17, 2027, while Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives before both of those movies on July 31, 2026.
