Helensburgh Lawn Tennis Club concluded its annual club championships on Saturday, September 12, with players of all ages competing in a busy schedule of finals. Despite challenging weather, organisers said the enthusiasm of players and supporters created a lively and welcoming atmosphere throughout the day.
Finals were held across age groups from under-eights to over-70s, with matches taking place in both singles and doubles formats.

The event showcased competitive play and strong performances from both junior and senior members.
Cameron White claimed the men’s open singles title, while Catherine Court won the women’s open singles.
In the men’s open doubles, Gregor and Liam Chambers emerged victorious, and Catherine teamed up with Helen Niblock to win the women’s open doubles.
Elsewhere, Graham and Catherine Court won the 40 and over mixed doubles, while Jim and Jackie Hunter claimed the 70 and over mixed doubles title, and Iain MacLaren and Jim Hunter won the 70 and over men’s doubles.
For younger players, Finn Boweman took the under-eight singles crown, and Calum T won both the 15 and under and 18 and under boys’ singles events.
A buffet of home-baked treats helped keep energy levels high, and many attendees commented on the positive environment and strong sense of community throughout the day.
The championships rounded off another successful season for the club, which is now encouraging anyone interested in tennis to look out for details of its upcoming winter membership offer.
Junior competition was equally strong, with Murray MacDonald and Will Rogers taking the under-10 boys’ doubles title, and Seth Robinson and Hamish MacDonald winning the 18 and under boys’ doubles.
The club is inviting newcomers and returning players to get involved as it looks ahead to the winter season.

Among the senior winners, Graham Court and Mathew Mackie won the 55 and over men’s doubles, with Mandy Allan and Oona Mummery taking the women’s title in the same age group.
Jackie Hunter and Val Pace won the 70 and over women’s doubles, while Frankie Hanmer and Ann McKelvie finished as runners-up.
