Hull KR have been dealt a massive blow in their bid to make it to the Super League semi-finals and even if they do make it, star winger Tom Davies may not be available.

The Hull KR number two was the victim of a brutal head-to-head collision, at first making contact with tackler James Harrison before then ricocheting to make more head-to-head contact with James Bentley.

That tackle left Davies prone on the floor and the medics quickly rushed onto the field to assess him before he went for a Head Injury Assessment, which he did pass, however, he sustained bruising and per Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks is ‘unlikely to return’ for the game.

It’s a massive blow for the Robins, who quickly went 8-0 down shortly after Davies left the field. Joe Burgess and Matty Ashton would then exchange tries just before the half to leave the Robins 12-6 down at the break.

No immediate action was taken by referee Aaron Moore after the tackle that injured Davies, though the incident was placed on report meaning that the Match Review Panel will assess if there was any wrongdoing from either Harrison or Bentley.

Losing Davies sees Hull KR lose their third-top try scorer in Super League with the winger boasting 13 tries in his 25 games this season, however, it’s his work outside of the opposition 20 that makes him such a valuable asset.

Davies ranks second in Super League for metres made and that sort of hard work saw him clean up at the Hull KR awards evening, earning Player of the Year awards nominated by the members and the players, as well as winning the Roger Millward Player of the Season award.
