LONDON: The team tasked with establishing the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Center (AMAN) visited the UK Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms (COBR) to learn about Britain’s emergency and crisis management system, coordination mechanisms among government agencies and support for decision-making during major incidents. In a press statement issued Friday, the team said the visit featured extensive discussions and exchanges on operational procedures, coordination mechanisms and crisis response. The British side provided an overview of key procedures, practices, experiences and lessons learned in emergency and crisis management, the statement said.
The team also reviewed the role of the UK Resilience Academy in building national capabilities and developing the skills of leaders and personnel in resilience, emergency and crisis management through specialized training programs, professional qualifications and exercises. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise between Kuwait and the United Kingdom in emergency, crisis, disaster and risk management, the statement added. The British side expressed its readiness to cooperate with Kuwait and provide expertise to support efforts to establish and develop the Aman Center and benefit from the UK’s experience in the field.
The visit forms part of the team’s program to study international experiences and best practices, contributing to the development of Kuwait’s national system for emergency, crisis and disaster management and risk management. Affiliated with the Council of Ministers, the Aman team is tasked with establishing a comprehensive national system for emergency and disaster management, coordinating national efforts, developing an integrated risk management framework and enhancing Kuwait’s preparedness and response to crises. — KUNA
