Meghan Markle will have to work extra hard to be accepted into her new social surroundings in the UK, it has been claimed. The Duchess of Sussex moved back into Prince Harry’s home country in August, six years after the couple left for a new, financially independent life in the US. Harry and Meghan have found a home in a non-royal residence in the Cotswolds.
And while the exact location of the Sussexes new refuge cannot be revealed, local sources of the Cotswolds’ elite share a grim glimpse about Meghan’s future there. The Telegraph’s Eilidh Hargreaves said that the Sussexes will have to crack the Cotswolds scene, which will be “much trickier” than anything else they’ve done before as locals do not see them, and especially Meghan, in a favourable light.
She wrote: “The challenge of becoming a member of the Daylesford scene won’t be the only uphill battle for Meghan as she seeks to become accepted in the Cotswolds. At a grand dinner party last Saturday night, one social friend conducted an experiment: ‘I sat next to these men and started talking about Meghan, and one almost left. He said, ‘If you say that word one more time…’ .
The writer added a seven-word instruction she’d picked up from talking with her new neighbours.
She wrote: “So it wasn’t only ‘We don’t want anything to do with her’, but ‘Do not degrade my house by bringing it up’.”
