Carisbrooke Vets said BTV3 is circulating on the Island and urged people to stay vigilant.
The practice will hold a meeting in October to update people on the situation and outline an action plan.
Bluetongue affects livestock including cattle, sheep, goats, deer and llamas.
Symptoms include a swollen blue tongue, fever and reduced milk production, while severe cases can be fatal.
Bluetongue does not affect people or food safety.
Currently, the whole of England is in a bluetongue restricted zone.
The Isle of Wight Council has been contacted for a statement.
