It was the first defeat of his loan spell for Tommy Setford on Saturday, whose Stevenage side went down 1-0 at Leyton Orient in League One. A 79th-minute winner from the east Londoners sealed the result, with Tommy playing the full 90 between the sticks. Stevenage now sit 11th in the table, and visit Walsall in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.
Ismeal Kabia started once again for St Mirren on Saturday, but it was a day to forget as three first-half goals saw Dundee United run out 3-0 winners in Paisley. Ismeal played 77 minutes of the contest, for a Buddies side who still sit fifth in the Scottish Premiership and next take on Hearts in three weeks.
It was also a bad day at the office for Kalmar in the Swedish Allsvenskan, with Charles Sagoe Jr playing the full match on Sunday but the team enduring a 5-0 defeat by Hacken. Kalmar sit 13th on goals scored to Degerfors directly below them, as they look to scrap to keep their place in the top-flight.
On Thursday, it was the end of the road for England at the U20s World Cup in Poland, as Lydia Bedford’s youngsters were beaten 3-0 by Nigeria in Bielsko-Biala. Two Gunners out on loan have been part of the journey, including Jessie Gale – who was a late substitute – and Cecily Wellesley-Smith, who remained on the bench in the round of 16 tie. The duo will now return to their respective loan clubs, Newcastle United and Rosengard.
And finally it was a trip to face Newcastle for Sophie Harwood, who has been gaining vital experience with Sheffield United in the WSL 2 since arriving on loan. Unfortunately for the teenage defender and her Blades teammates, it was a tough afternoon on Sunday, as they were beaten 4-1 in Gateshead by the league leaders.
