Raiders’ campaign came to an end on Sunday following a 56-12 defeat away at Doncaster in Week 3 of the Betfred Championship play-offs.
An injury-hit squad was further weakened by an illness bug that led to the bruising result but the club still remains optimistic about the future.
In a statement, they said: “Barrow Raiders directors, players and staff would like to thank all the fans and sponsors for their support throughout the 2026 campaign.
“We managed a league attendance average of just over 2,000 which will be the envy of many clubs in our division, and your unwavering support is appreciated.
“It looks like there will be changes afoot for the 2027 season for the Championship structure but whatever competition we are faced with it is re-assuring that we have the backing of the town and its people.”
Speaking to the Raiders social channels after the game, Head Coach Crarey revealed that ‘nobody has spoken’ to him about whether they hope to continue his stint at the club.
He commented: “I don’t know what’s going on, I’m going to try to get a holiday as soon as I can now and get away – the way I feel now, I just want to go to bed for about a week-and-a-half.
“I’ve got to have a think with my family, there’s a lot going on in my life at the moment off the field and stuff like that, it’s been the toughest year as well on it.”
Winning 17 out of 24 games this season was branded as an achievement to be proud of, with Crarey saying that Raiders had grown into a ‘force in this division’ and that they had ‘done great as a group’.
It is still yet to be determined, however, whether he will be on the touchline by the time the next campaign kicks off.
“There’s only so much you can do as a coach and probably people might be a little bit sick of me by now, being here for so long, so we’ll just have a little think and see what the club want to do and see where we are in the next few weeks,” he said.
“But I’m not going to think about anything for the next fortnight. I’m just going to turn my phone off and not read social media or anything like that, just enjoy a little bit of time with my family.”
