Andy Burnham has fired back at Danny Dyer by saying that he does not know who the cockney actor is.
Remarks by Mr Dyer, who played Mick Carter on BBC soap EastEnders for a decade, went viral this week after he said that he did not who the Prime Minister was.
And now, speaking to reporters en route to the annual meeting of the UN General Assembly, the Prime Minister has hit back.
“I’m not sure I know who he is,” Mr Burnham jabbed.
“Is he the father-in-law of a West Ham player?”
The ex-EastEnders man is, in fact, father-in-law of England and West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen.
Bowen, now 29, married Mr Dyer’s daughter Dani, 30, last May.
The Rivals star’s brutal swipe at the Prime Minister came as he was hauled over for an interview with a BBC reporter at a demonstration in Kent earlier this week.

Mr Dyer had been attending a Surfers Against Sewage rally for state ownership of the water industry in Leysdown-on-Sea in Kent on Sunday alongside his daughter and singer Becky Hill.
He was asked to talk through his “message for the Prime Minister”.
But Mr Dyer replied: “I don’t know who the Prime Minister is, mate. Do you?”
When reminded that it had been Mr Burnham since July 20, he said: “Yeah, but who is he? I don’t understand.”

He added: “Did anyone vote for him?. Because I didn’t vote for him. So I think we’ve had successive prime ministers that are c***s. End of.”
“Put that on the f***ing BBC,” he added before walking off.
Reporter Michael Keohan then shared the too-hot-for-TV moment on social media in a post he has since deleted.
He wrote alongside the video: “I don’t think we’ll use this clip of Danny Dyer on the news tonight.”
