Practices will be shut on Friday, September 18 and Monday, September 21, with NHS Ayrshire & Arran advising people to check their medication supplies and find out which community pharmacies will be available.

Some pharmacies will remain open during the holiday period and can provide advice on medicines and everyday illnesses.

Roisin Kavanagh, Director of Pharmacy, said residents should check when their GP practice and pharmacy are closed and ensure they have enough regular medication.

She said prescription requests can take up to seven days to be processed by GP practices and pharmacies, while households should also consider keeping medicines such as paracetamol and cough and sore throat remedies available.

On Friday, September 18, most pharmacies will be open, however some pharmacies may be operating reduced hours, except the following pharmacies which will be closed:
