The proposal from East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) includes replacing two rooftop chiller units.

These units, approved in 2016, are now around 10 years old and are set to be replaced as part of a broader upgrade to the MRI facilities.
According to the trust, the changes are essential to keep the MRI scanners running smoothly and to meet the growing demand for diagnostic services in East Suffolk.
The new chillers will be placed in the same position as the old ones, on a building in the hospital’s central outpatient area.
Planning papers note the new units will be slightly smaller in length and depth but marginally taller.
The trust also stated that “the development would not increase patient numbers, staffing levels or traffic at the site and would have no impact on existing landscaping.”
If approved, the project will form part of the trust’s ongoing programme to enhance healthcare facilities and patient care.
