Dozens of hand-painted Peter Rabbit sculptures that formed a city trail for the summer are due to be auctioned off.

The 96 Peter Rabbit sculptures were dotted around Newcastle and North Tyneside for nine weeks, with people encouraged to visit and snap a photo of each one.

While the beloved Beatrix Potter character was free to view, paid-for activities such as a sticker book and app supported work of the charity St Oswald’s Hospice.

The trail was removed earlier this month and the sculptures are due to be auctioned off to raise money for the same charity.

A ticketed event at Newcastle Civic Centre on 10 and 11 October will bring the sculptures all together for one last time before the auction.

Some of the artists who painted the character will be on hand to answer questions on the day.
