The Portuguese public broadcaster RTP has confirmed that the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will be broadcast on RTP2.
The final of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be broadcast on RTP2 for the first time. RTP has announced that the final of Junior Eurovision 2026 will be broadcast on its secondary channel, moving away from RTP1.
The broadcast of Eurovision contests on RTP2 is normally reserved for Portugal’s participation in Eurovision’s cultural contests. Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 was broadcast on the channel, as well as the final edition of Eurovision Young Dancers in 2017.
Salvador Rio will represent Portugal at Junior Eurovision 2026 in Malta. Salvador Rio will perform “Alma” for Portugal in Malta, an entry written by Diogo Piçarra who was Salvador’s coach on The Voice Kids.
Inês Gonçalves represented Portugal at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with “Para onde vai o amor?”. She finished 13th with 73 points.

Portugal in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest+
Portugal debuted at the 2006 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Bucharest. The country placed second-last in 2006 and 2007 and withdrew in 2008. They did not return until 2017, when they were represented by Mariana Venâncio, who placed 14th with her song “YouTuber”. In 2024, Victoria Nicole finished 2nd for Portugal, its best ever result in the contest.
