A plane flying from Germany to Canada was forced to make an emergency landing in Manchester following a mid-air emergency.
Flight tracking data reveals Lufthansa flight LH470 was heading to Toronto Pearson International Airport from Frankfurt, and was cruising over Scotland when crew triggered a squawk 7700 alert.
The Boeing 747-430, which was registered as D-ABVY, left Germany at 3pm local time. It passed over the Netherlands, reached cruising altitude of 32,000 feet and proceeded as planned for the first 90 minutes of the journey, reports the Mirror.
As it traveled over Scotland, the jet initiated a sudden left turn and issued the international transponder code for a general emergency onboard, according to Air Live.
