Former Warrington Wolves stalwart Jon Clarke, who started his career with Wigan Warriors, has landed another huge job in the NRL.
Clarke is over a decade retired but he’s continued to make a big impact in his second career, serving as one of the sport’s best fitness or strength and conditioning staff.
He’d initially join the coaching staff at Widnes, the club he retired at, before working with Warrington Wolves and then moving on to rugby union, where he was part of England’s coaching staff for the 2019 World Cup an then worked as the S&C coach for the British and Irish Lions.
A return to rugby league eventuated when he took on the role as head of performance at NRL club Manly Sea Eagles, however, he has now moved on from that role and been appointed to another high-profile club.
Michael Maguire has hired Clarke to be the head of performance at Brisbane Broncos from the 2027 season onwards with the Englishman earning a reputation as one of the very best in the sport at his job.

Former Warrington Wolves man Jon Clarke lands latest coaching role
It comes after a Super League career that saw him make over 350 appearances, the majority of which came with Warrington Wolves, for whom he played a total of 234 times in all competitions between 2001 and 2011.

A three-time Great Britain international, the hooker was a tackling machine throughout his playing career and was part of the Warrington side that won the 2010 Challenge Cup.
His post-playing career has been as successful and the move to join Brisbane is a big one with the Broncos’ executive general manager praising Clarke’s hiring.
“JC has worked at the highest levels of rugby league and rugby union, and brings a depth of experience that will be valuable to our entire football programme,” he said in a club statement.
“He’s respected for the standards he sets and the relationships he builds with players and staff. We’re excited to welcome him to the Broncos.”
