The line towards Norwich has been blocked after a train sustained damage from hitting deer near Thetford.
The incident has led to the cancellation and delay of services running through this station, affecting routes between Stansted Airport and Norwich via Cambridge.
There is no current estimate for when the line will be reopened.
Trains are unable to run from Ely towards Norwich.
Train engineers, Network Rail response staff and British Transport Police are working to get the line reopened as soon as possible.
Passengers are being warned to expect delays throughout the rest of the evening.
From Cambridge and Ely, tickets can be used on alternative routes via Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket.
However, there are no replacement buses.
