Olympia London, the 7,000-capacity venue in West Kensington, has appeared to cancel all of its live shows scheduled for December in the venue’s Grand Hall, including performances from Interpol, Royal Blood, and Bloc Party.

The news came by way of Brighton duo Royal Blood, who took to their social media to announce that their scheduled show at the venue on October 2nd had been cancelled.

Their statement began, “Along with all other artists scheduled to play Olympia (The Grand Hall) this December, we have just been informed that the venue is facing unforeseen planning issues, and as a consequence, they have been forced to cancel all shows this year.”

Royal Blood continued, “We are absolutely gutted that we cannot perform at Olympia as planned and know that this will be disappointing to our fans who’ve bought tickets and made arrangements to see us.”

Though the indie rockers have been hard at work trying to find alternative arrangements, their search has come up empty: “Despite exploring every option, there are no viable alternative venues in London on December 3rd, and rather than causing further disruption to people’s plans over the Christmas period, all tickets will be refunded in full,” they shared.

The band, whose fifth album, Dead Company, is set for release next month, concluded promisingly, “We are currently working with our team on a new London date for 2027 and will share news as soon as possible.”

Royal Blood aren’t the only alternative band that has been impacted by the shutdown: Interpol and Bloc Party’s co-headline concerts set to take place at Olympia London on December 4th and 5th are also listed as “cancelled” on Ticketmaster.

Jamie T, who was due to perform two nights at the venue, has also now moved his planned concerts to the OVO Wembley Arena.

Despite this, no official word has yet come from the venue about the apparent closure over the festive period of the venue, which is situated within the Olympia Exhibition Centre.
