SRS Independent Multi-Charity Fundraising Norfolk has lodged plans for its site on Greenway Lane in Fakenham.
The venue was previously occupied by J Spalding, which closed its doors to customers several years ago.
A supporting statement with the application said: “Following an enquiry to the Valuations Office Agency (VOA) it transpired that this property was still registered under the previous business, being an upholstery repair service.
“With regard to planning permissions, it was found that change of use for the charity shop, had never been submitted, as no one was aware of the need for this.
“The charity shop started around March 2023. This application is therefore required to regularise the use of the property.”
No other changes are earmarked for the site.
A decision on the proposals is due to be made by North Norfolk District Council at a later date.
